August Fun Facts:

• August 3rd is National Watermelon Day

• August 10th is National S’mores Day

• August 13th is International Left-Handers Day

• August is named after the Roman Emperor, Augustus Caesar.

• In the early Roman calendar, August only had 29 days.  Augustus added two more days to it to make August equal to the 31 days in July (named after Julius Caesar).

• August 11th marks the end of the Dog Days of Summer (which started on July 3rd).

• The viewing of the Perseid meteor shower peaks in mid-August.
