The Exchange club of Brunswick held their annual Powell McDonald Christmas bike giveaway. The Exchange club of Brunswick has a long-standing tradition for over 40 years of giving bikes to children in our community at Christmas. This tradition was started by Powell McDonald doing this on his own, which grew to include his friend Jimmy Hancock which in turn grew even more and then became a club project. This year the club gave over 150 bikes to students in the Glynn county schools from kindergartners to high school students. The social workers in the school's help determine who needs a bike each year. The club pays for the bikes from the members in way of fines. During our weekly meetings our Sgt at Arms Jeff Chapman fines members for infractions. For the second year the Pilot club of Brunswick has teamed up with the Exchange club of Brunswick and provided a new helmet for each of the students receiving a bike, as well as Toys for Tots which have provided a stuffed animal to go with the bikes.
