The Exchange club of Brunswick had Brunswick fire department chief Randy Mobley speak to the club about fire prevention and their smoke detector program. The Brunswick fire department was founded 1876 and has a ISO rating of 1 which the best and Brunswick is the smallest department to hold that rating in the state of Georgia.
The Insurance Services Office (ISO) collects information on a community's public fire protection and analyzes the data using a Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS). They then assign a Public Protection Classification from 1 to 10. Class 1 generally represents superior property fire protection, and Class 10 indicates that the area's fire-suppression program doesn't meet ISO's minimum criteria. Many insurers of homes and business properties reference ISO ratings when calculating premiums. As a result, communities with a better ISO rating may pay less for fire insurance than others.
The Brunswick Fire Department's number one goal is life safety. We believe that the smoke alarm is one of the greatest tools to help prevent injuries and fatalities from fires. We truly believe that smoke alarms help save lives; that's why our "Knock4Life" program allows residents in the City of Brunswick to have smoke alarms installed in their homes at no cost. If your home is not equipped with a smoke alarm, contact us today at 912-267-5546.
